Follow up:
The pen name I use is Octavia Atlas.
I was a sweet, wide-eyed, first-year college student who wanted to do what one could legally do upon turning 18; buy cigarettes, play the lotto and purchase pornography. Being of sound mind and body, I zoned in on the porn.
On an excursion with friends, I went into a little convenience store. It had everything of um, convenience, that one could imagine, including the object of my desire. I could have casually waltzed in there, bought what I wanted and left, secure in my knowledge that upon returning to my dorm room, I could gaze upon some of Earth's finest specimens. However, it would not be so easy. There was indeed one catch. The friends who were with me seemed oddly fidgety and, consequently, they caught the eye of the store clerk. The clerk's gaze followed us. Finally, becoming weirded-out by the scrutiny, I grabbed the first magazine I saw that had a man on it, made my purchase and zoomed out of the door.
Now...imagine my surprise upon returning to my room with my loot and finding out just exactly what I had purchased. It was not a porn mag for women. It was porn for men! And did I cast it aside? No. I reveled in it, forever rearranging my mind.
My original male/male fiction came much later after infusing my love of writing with an interest in yaoi. But the roots of that interest in m/m took place about ten years ago. Ahhhh, memories.
