Nicea’s Story
Nicea was an active, intelligent and much loved child of a struggling small business owner in ancient Athens. But he also had the misfortune of being a third son, born late in his father’s life. He was expendable. When the ever-increasing Roman taxes threatened to destroy his family, he was most reluctantly sold. His family was saved, but Nicea faced a life of unspeakable horror, used to entice clients to use his master’s services. He survived to be sold again, this time to an official in the Theban government. He found Orestes’ home a most pleasant change. But, of course, time goes on… And after a lifetime of slavery and subservience, can he possibly handle all the changes that might lead to his happily-ever-after?
Skaia (Published Summer 2010)
Skaia was only a child when his village was burned and his family killed by Julius Caesar's troops in their attempt to add all of Gaul to the Roman Empire. Sold as a slave in Rome, he adjusts to his life in the Suetonius family, with the help of other slaves and the friendship of his young master, Glaucus. When Glaucus leaves for his tour of Greece, marking his official entry into manhood, Skaia is left behind, to the doubtful mercies of Glaucus' father, Thaddeus. Again, he adjusts and his life turns out far differently than he ever imagined, as he befriends and loves multiple generations of the family that owns him.
Follow up:
My 'official' pen-name is Ayden Sadari, but, over the years, I've used others on various sites. 'Dreamer46' was my starter name on various Alexander and Bagoas boards that sprang up after release of the Alexander movie. It evolved to 'DrkDreamer,' when I started writing original fiction on Adult Fan Fiction. (And it's still a favorite!) As Harial has pointed out to me several times, my fiction tends to be dark and angsty, so 'DrkDreamer' suits me very well. I am located in the mid-Atlantic region of the United States. I don't like to identify myself as a Virginian, because it is usually associated with conservative thought and attitude. While I, on the other hand, am a Flaming Liberal. My cause de jour is equal rights for the LGBT community.
I began writing as a teenager in high-school. Even then, I wrote yaoi - though the term was completely unknown back then. Teachers were appalled...
Favorite Authors
My favorite mainstream writers, who, not surprisingly, all tend to be yaoish, are:
- Mary Renault
- Storm Constantine
- C.J. Cherryth
Online - not mainstream - authors I love are:
- Juxian Tang
- Pam Nunn
- Rushlight
- Remy Martin
- Talya Firedancer
- Becca Abbott
Fan Reviews of My Books
Like any other author, I love when readers enjoy my work. But equally important to me is Constructive Criticism.
I want to know if something is unclear or needs further clarification. I'm not ashamed to admit that I've added elements to my stories after thoughtful comments from my readers. In Skaia (http://slpublishinggroup.com/shop/product.php?id_product=11) (due for release in Summer 2010), I was moved to show ways in which Roman slaves might find moments of real happiness in their otherwise dismal lives.
I firmly believe that constructive criticism help me grow!
Book Awards
Greatly encouraging when I first started out was winning the 'Best Drabble on Destiny' on the Alexander Slash board. I was nominated for Best Original Story for Roman Slave Boy. (I like to think the only reason I didn't win was because I took it down before voting happened...)

- Ayden’s Work at Adult Fan Fiction I tend to write things there, take the comments and criticism to heart and then take the story down to revise and re-write. The only older works I've left there are some Alexander/Bagoas and AnK fan-fiction. A current original story - still in progress - is Collateral Damage.
